Backyard Homebrew was borne after the closure of the homebrewing stalwart Grain & Grape. Lamenting the loss of their favourite homebrew store, many Grain & Grape customers in the final weeks queried us about where they were to now source their homebrew supplies. And so after several chats over homebrew, the decision was made to open a new homebrew store that services the west of Melbourne and beyond. Backyard Homebrew is the name we settled on for this new venture, since the backyard is a place and a space where we ply our merry crafts. As employees at Grain & Grape for its last 10 years, Pete and Matt have extensive knowledge in brewing, distilling and winemaking.
